Team USA’s outing at the ongoing 2024 Shanghai Archery World Cup Stage 1 has come to a close, with the country's athletes claiming three bronze medals.

The competition is the first of four, with the Yecheon World Cup taking place between May 21 and 26. This will be followed by the Antalya World Cup (June 18-23), and the World Cup finals (October 19-20) in Tlaxcala, Mexico.

Getting a strong start to Team USA's day at the Shanghai World Cup was the duo of Olivia Dean and Kris Schaff. Participating in the compound mixed team event, the duo received a bye in the opening round. They went on to beat 13th seeds Singapore in their second round, and fifth seeds Turkey in their quarterfinals.

While they fell short to a lower ranked Estonia in their semifinals encounter, they made up for the defeat by taking down Mexico in their bronze medal match. The face-off between the two teams was intense, with the score being tied at 158 each. In the end, Dean and Schaff clinched a 20-19 victory via shoot-out.

Another medal-winning performance for America came from women's compound archer Alexis Ruiz. Ruiz proved to be a dominant force at the Shanghai Archery World Cup in her initial rounds, and won her bronze in much the same manner. In her final face-off, she beat higher-ranked Meeri-Marita Paas 145-141 to get onto the podium.

Team USA’s last bronze medal at the Shanghai Archery World Cup came with Nick Kappers’ victory in the men's compound category. Kappers started his campaign in China with an opening round victory over Ajay Scott, before taking down Sebastian Garcia and Andrey Tyutyun in the next two rounds.

In the quarterfinals, he edged past Prathamesh Fuge 148-147, before falling 147-146 to Fuge’s compatriot Priyanshu in the semifinals. For his bronze, the American beat Korea fourth seed Yang Jaewon 149-146.

Team USA will next be in action at the Yecheon Archery World Cup

With their outing in Shanghai done and dusted with, Team USA will now head to South Korea for the Yecheon Archery World Cup. The competition is scheduled to be held between May 21 and 26, and will feature a strong American squad which will include all of their Shanghai medalists.

In the women's compound events, Alexis Ruiz will be joined by Cassidy Cox and Carson Krahe, as well as mixed team medalist Olivia Dean. The men's compound event will see the participation of Nick Kappers, Kris Schaff, James Lutz and Sawyer Sullivan.

For the recurve events, America will be represented by Catalina Gnoriega, Casey Kaufhold, Jennifer Mucino- Fernandez, and Molly Nugent in the women's events. Gabriel Anderson, Brady Ellison, Jackson Mirich and Jack Williams will be in action in the men's events.
