Shanghai Diamond League 2024 Results: Sha'Carri Richardson & Christian Coleman beaten, Chase Jackson wins shot put

The Shanghai Diamond League 2024 witnessed breathtaking action on Saturday, 27 April with stacked fields all around the track. The highlight of the day was the two big upsets in the men's 100m and women's 200m events.

American sprinters Fred Kerley and Christian, who were favorites heading into the 100m event at Shanghai Diamond League 2024, were stunned by South Africa's Akani Simbine who clocked his season beat timing of 10.01s. Coleman improved his Xiamen time to 10.04s for the 2nd position while Kerley finished in 10.11s for the third position.

Sha'Carri Richardson faced defeat yet again in the women's 200m. The world champion lost to British Olympian Daryl Neita, who clocked 22.62s for the win while Richardson finished 3rd in 23.11s at the Shanghai Diamond League 2024. Her fellow American Avania Battle finished 2nd in 22.99s.

2022 World champion Chase Jackson was the star of the day for the USA at the Shanghai Diamond League 2024. The 29-year-old won the shot put with a massive throw of 20.03. None of the other athletes broke the 20m mark.
