During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles shocked the world by withdrawing her name while the competitions were in progress. The 26-year-old was performing in the vault team final when she experienced 'twisties'.

It is a condition that gymnasts experience due to a mental block. As a result, they lose control over their mind and body.

Later on, she announced her mental health break from the sport. While many supported the gymnast in her decision, some mocked Biles for it. However, she clarified on her Instagram stories, stating:

“For anyone saying I quit, I didn’t quit. My mind & body are simply not in sync, as you can see here,” she wrote.

For nearly two years, Biles stayed tight-lipped about her comeback. In the meanwhile, she spent quality time with her family and also kickstarted her married life with NFL player Jonathan Owens.

The couple began dating in the pandemic-era before getting married in 2023 in Cabo, Mexico. Biles and Owens are also building their new home in Texas.

Finally, after two years, the gymnast made her comeback in 2023 in the US Classic. Following that, she competed in the national and world championships.

Biles won four gold medals and a silver medal at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastic Championships.
