Simone Biles has finally concluded her busy 2024 and is now making the most of her time off. The gymnast recently headed to Soldier Field to cheer for her husband Jonathan Owens as his team, the Chicago Bears, took on the New England Patriots in Sunday night's NFL game.
In 2023, Biles became a regular in the stands when Owens competed. However, the American hasn't been able to attend as many of her husband’s games this season as she headed to the Paris Olympics, before returning home and embarking on the second iteration of her Gold Over America Tour.
Now, with her competitive season and the GOAT Tour completed, the gymnast is back in the stands to root for Owens. Most recently, Simone Biles attended the Chicago Bears vs New England Patriots game, dressed in Bears merch. While the Bears went down 19-3 in a match they’ll want to forget, the gymnast and her husband shared a sweet moment on the pitch.
Jonathan Owens on watching Simone Biles compete at the Paris Olympics
For Simone Biles, 2024 has been one of the biggest years of her career. The gymnast began her season competing domestically, winning the Core Hydration Classic, US Championships, and the US Olympic Trials, to get her year off to a strong start. Owens was in the stands throughout all these competitions, and the NFL safety even headed to Paris during the Games to cheer for his wife.
At the Paris Olympics, Biles helped USA win gold in the team event and claimed wins in the all-around and vault individual events. The gymnast also claimed silver on the floor, finishing behind Brazil's Rebecca Andrade.
Speaking to the press after returning from Paris, Jonathan Owens called the experience of watching Biles compete live ‘amazing’ and labelled his wife a ‘warrior’.
"Obviously, the first day when she had the injury to her calf and just her ability to persevere through that and go out there and still dominate is just amazing to watch.”
“My wife is a warrior. That’s the one thing I tell people because I equate it to how we are in football. You limp around and it will hurt a little bit right before. But as soon as you go, it’s like you forget about it. Just pain tolerance and the way she was able to go out there and, like I said, look graceful with everything. People really didn’t have a clue what was going on. I'm just so happy and proud for her.”
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens first hit together in March 2020, and went public with their relationship a few months later. The duo were engaged in February 2022 and married a little over a year later.
