South Carolina's JaMeesia Ford declares bold goal for NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships

JaMeesia Ford, a sophomore from the University of South Carolina, has declared her goals for the upcoming 2025 NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Championship season. Ford won the 2024 NCAA Indoor title in the 200m and 4x400m.

The young athlete from the University of South Carolina has made the indoor first-team All-American three times, once in 2025 and twice in 2024. Ford also won the 2024 SEC Freshman Runner of the Year award in indoor and outdoor. In 2024, Ford was awarded the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year in both indoor and outdoor.

JaMeesia Ford shared her goals for the upcoming 2025 NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Championship. She spoke to Gamecocks Online about getting more practice and shared a bold statement about her aim to finish in the top spots.

"The 200 is my favorite, and I’ve started to focus more on the 100 this year. My goal is to get first place in all my events. What’s going through my head is to just execute my race and run.”

The 2025 NCAA Division 1 Track & Field Championship will take place at the Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene from Wednesday, June 11, through Saturday, June 14. All the NCAA action from Eugene will be broadcast and be available on ESPN network in the United States: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and streaming on ESPN+.


JaMeesia Ford looks ahead to upcoming NCAA Championship

JaMeesia Ford is regarded as one of the most talented young athletes in the United States and has enjoyed a strong start to her track career. In May, the sprinter set the SEC Championship record and the program record, as shared by the Gamecocks on Instagram:

"3rd fastest 200m in the 🌎 5th fastest collegiate runner SEC Championship record Program record JaMeesia Ford is HER 🤙"

Talking about the upcoming nationals, the young athlete told Gamecocks Online:

"Going into nationals, I feel like we’re more prepared, and we’re 100 times better than we were last year. We were such a young team last year, and now we have so much more experience. We’re just ready."

The sophomore from the University of South Carolina ran the 100m and the 4x100m relay at the 2025 Gamecock Invitational, winning each race in the final. Ford ran an 11.20-second 100m race in the opening run of the meet, and later on she achieved the personal best of 11.06s in the final.
