In a lighthearted reflection on his Olympic debut, Ryan Lochte recalled a hilarious dining hall experience with Michael Phelps. While the legendary swimmer Phelps made his Olympic debut at the 2000 Sydney Games, Lochte competed in his first greatest multi-sport event at the 2004 Athens edition.

While Michael Phelps collected eight medals at the 2004 Games, Lochte bagged a gold and a silver medal in his debut appearance. Lochte is the fifth most decorated Olympic USA male swimmer with 10 medals, including six gold and three silver and bronze medals.

In a recent podcast on 'Shut Up! Tell Me More' with Pam Comiter, Lochte reflected on a hilarious moment from his Olympic debut experience when he discovered that McDonald's was available for free for the athletes at the dining hall.

Amazed by the unexpected perk, Lochte described it as "icing on the cake."

"We went to the dining hall, which every Olympics....which is the best thing," Lochte said. "When I was younger, I was like this is the coolest thing. Every dining hall they have like a...where every athlete comes and eat and they had like a 'All you can eats like McDonald's' thing.
"I was like...I was there with Phelps and I was like 'Hey Phelps, like there's McDonald's and you don't have to pay for it,' and he's like 'Yeah I know,' and I'm like 'What? This is the coolest day,' and I'm like 'So you are saying like if I have two big bags, two cheese burgers, I don't have to pay for it?' They are like 'No, it's free.'"
"That was like the icing on the cake. I was like this is freaking awesome," he added. (7:35 onwards)
