The 2024 Valencia Marathon, a World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race, is slated to be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024. With Sisay Lemma’s 2023 time of 2:01:48, the marathon has cemented its reputation as one of the fastest in the world.
The 2024 edition will feature a few elite athletes, including Kenenisa Bekele, Lemma, Megertu Alemu, and Hiwot Gebrekidan. The four-time Olympic medalist Bekele will lock horns with defending champion Lemma, who will compete in his last marathon of the season after clinching the Boston Marathon this year.
The women's field will be a star-studded affair with Ethiopia's Alemu, a silver medalist at the 2023 London Marathon. She will be joined by Gebrekidan.
Schedule and order of events of the 2024 Valencia Marathon
The 2024 Marathon will kick off from Placa de la Marato and cover Placa d’Europa before moving to Av. de Balears and Veles e Vents, also known as America’s Cup Building.
The final stretch of the marathon will pass through Plaça de Bous bullring, Estació del Nord station, and Porta de la Mar gate before concluding at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
