American star rapper Flavor Flav had an unfavorable experience at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which featured multiple top artists who performed live performances. The incident took place on December 4, the beginning of the holiday season.
The memorable night didn't turn out to be great for Flav as he claimed that he was removed from the dressing room via a tweet on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:
“I feel weird … I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and I was escorted to see my boys … THE BACKSTREET BOYS … and we were backstage in their dressing room … security came up to me and says @nbc does not want me in this area and I need to leave. At the same time … their social media woman came up and asked me to capture social content. What did I ever do to NBC or anyone??. All I ever do is try to spread joy and love … and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics”
Although Flavor Flav later deleted the tweet about the incident, fans had already captured screenshots of the post. Following this, the rapper shared another tweet, mentioning how the experience had left him feeling emotionally broken, writing:
“I deleted the tweet,,, but my spirit is broken.”
The hip-hop artist also made headlines for his unwavering support for Team USA athletes during the 2024 Paris Olympics. He gifted USA gymnastics star Jordan Chiles a bronze necklace clock to wear which he presented to her at the MTV Video Music Awards after Chiles controversially lost her bronze medal in the women’s floor exercise event at the Olympics.

Flavor Flav helped Olympian and discus thrower Veronica Fraley by offering to pay her rent. Just one day ahead of the discus throw qualifications, Fraley took to X to share her struggle to pay the rent, stating:
“I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent 😒 my school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything 😂) enough to buy new cars and houses 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾”
Flavor Flav quickly responded to help Fraley by asking for her details through which the payment can be done, writing:
“I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW,,, and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow LETZ GO,!!!”
In addition to assisting Veronica Fraley, Flavor Flav has also extended his support to other USA sports and sportspersons as he signed a 5-year sponsorship deal this year as the hype man for both the USA women’s and men’s water polo teams.
