Gabby Thomas reacted to Alexis Ohanian's track meet featuring an average runner alongside some of the world's fastest athletes in the women's 100m. Athlos NYC recently concluded the inaugural edition of the track meet and received great praise from the track and field world for being a pioneer in changing women's sports and promoting track among the masses.Athlos NYC featured many Olympians, including 200m Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas, 100m hurdles Olympic champion Masai Russell, Faith Kipyegon, Alexis Holmes, and many others. Along with having a highly competitive line-up, Alexis Ohanian decided to answer people's queries inspired by a Reddit post he read a decade ago.Athlos NYC had an average person run alongside the line-up of the women's 100m which included Brittany Brown, Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith, and Candace Hill among others. It’s bigger than just the six of us lining up. It’s really about what we’re doing for women’s sports. What this event particularly means for women's sports and track and field," she said.Along with a lucrative prize purse and having some of the fastest athletes in the world compete for the title, Athlos plans to cater to the masses by making the event more fan-focused and entertaining.
