Jakob Ingebrigtsen is poised to compete in his first event after the 2024 Paris Olympics. He will be seen competing in the 1500m race in the 49th edition of the Lausanne Diamond League at the La Pontaise Olympic Stadium on August 22.
The Norwegian recently ended his Paris Olympic campaign with one gold medal and participated in two events, the 1500m and 5000m dashes. He stood atop the podium in the 5000m race after recording a time of 13:13.66, trouncing Ronal Kwemoi, who clocked 13:15.04. The third place was claimed by the American athlete Grant Fisher, who recorded 13:15.13.
Ingebrigtsen faced heartbreak in the 1500m dash, as he could not even attain a podium finish. He finished fourth with a time of 3:28.24, and the top two positions were claimed by Cole Hocker and Josh Kerr, respectively. However, to bounce back stronger than his previous loss, the 23-year-old will be participating in the same dash at the Lausanne Diamond League.
He will be seen competing on August 22, 2024, and is expected to have a terrific showdown with Olympic champion Cole Hocker once again. Other athletes who will be participating in the event are Timothy Cheruiyot and Hobbs Kessler.
The athletes will square off against each other to collect Diamond League points and attempt to qualify for the finals of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League, which is slated to be held in Brussels on September 13-14.

Following this loss, he opened up about his disappointment and also congratulated his contenders, who took the medals home, through an Instagram post.

"Today, Cole Hocker, Yared Nuguse and Josh Kerr outsmarted me. They were “the best guys” when it really mattered. And I want to congratulate them all on a great performance! Of course, I am disappointed!"
Thanking his team, he added:
"I sincerely want to express my gratitude and love to them and the rest of the team, and to my partners and the Norwegian athletics association and all my followers for the support this year. Thank you so much. It means a lot to me!"
Jakob Ingebrigtsen won two gold medals in the 2023 Diamond Leagues in the 1500m and 3000m dashes.
