Love Never Lies: South Africa premiered on Netflix on Friday, November 29, 2024. In this reality TV dating series, six couples participated to go through a series of challenges in which their trust and loyalty would be tested. Viewers got a glimpse into the ups and downs of each relationship, and confrontations as the couples faced hard truths.
In the newly released episode 5, one of the couples, Siya and Pretty, were having a rough phase in their relationship. Siya was hurt when he was shown the snippets of Pretty's interactions with other singles, as part of a "basic package" visual segment. He asked to see more of her interactions by taking out 5000 South African Rand (ZAR) from the prize money pot.
Love Never Lies: South Africa episode 5, released on November 29, was titled I Want That Cucumber. The episode synopsis read:

What happened on Love Never Lies: South Africa episode 5?
In Love Never Lies: South Africa episode 5, Siya was shown a "basic package" in which he got updates on what Pretty had been doing when he was not around. When he found out about Pretty's interactions and her showing interest in other men, Siya was "hurt" and "angry." Siya was asked if he wanted to see more of Pretty's comments about him and he responded with a yes.
However, this information came with a price of 5000 Rand, which was deducted from the total price fund. During his confessional interview, Siya told the cameras:
"It hurt me and makes me angry at the same time."
He opened up about his feelings to the show host clarifying he had no intentions of changing Pretty's personality, only her tone. The Love Never Lies: South Africa cast member stated that he didn't want her to "disrespect" him. However, Pretty claimed Siya didn't accept her as she was. Siya said:
"I don't want to lie. Our trust just went out through the door. Pretty must be aware of sometimes the way she says things to me. I feel as if she just overpowers me sometimes. I love her personality, I'd never ant her to change her personality. Just her tone."
During her confessional interview on Love Never Lies: South Africa, Pretty talked about the problems in her relationship with Siya. She mentioned that Siya couldn't communicate effectively with her which was causing major issues among them. She also pointed out that he was not fully accepting her "loud and confident" personality. Pretty further told the cameras:
"Regarding the me and Siya situation, there's a lot going on. I haven't processed it at all. I'm still processing it. I'm still trying to process it. I am very mad still. My partner feels like I make him masculine because he cannot communicate with me."
Episode 6 will highlight more of their relationship as the viewers find out whether the two can resolve their issues or not.
