Netflix's Outlast returned to screens with a brand new season last week on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The survivalist reality competition started with a total of 16 contestants and by the end of episode 6, only 8 remained.
The first person to be eliminated was Bayardo Hernandez or Bayo, who "flared out" in episode 2. His elimination came after he disagreed with his teammates and stole Camp Bravo's pots and cans instead of allying with them.
After pondering upon his actions, his team, Camp Alpha voted him out. Bayo chose to self-eliminate instead of trying to find another team. Fans of the show reacted to his gameplay and felt it was a "stupid" decision to go after Camp Bravo in the very first episode of season 2. One person wrote on X:
"Bayo "went there friendly" and made the rash decision to take their sh*t that early in the game for no reason? Stupid move if I've ever seen one. That is not how you win and anyone saying differently is as dumb as Bayo."
"Bayo! Haven’t you seen season one of the show that you’re on?!? Why’d you have to steal?" a fan commented.
"Bayo got bored. Plain & simple. He wanted to get the game moving, but he struck too early without his team’s consent. Instead of starting a war they can win, he shot first & lost all respect from his teammates. Big mistake even tho I love his mindset," a tweet read.
Outlast season 2 fans felt that Bayo should have let his teammates know what he had planned:
"Bayo should’ve let his team know his motives before he went to Bravo. Thats what he get. Flare out!" a person wrote.
"I AM NOT MENTALLY PREPARED FOR THIS AFTER LAST SEASON... BAYO WHYYYYYY" a fan commented.
"Just finished episode 1. Bayo would have to be air lifted out them d*mn woods if I was in Alpha camp. Ain’t no f*cking way," a tweet read.
Some Outlast season 2 fans supported the cast member online:
"Can’t believe people have a problem with what bayo did that’s how you win! Watch alpha not last long without him, because of that forced flare bravo will outlast them," a person wrote.
"Bayo is right that this is a game. Playing aggressive & sabotaging to make life harder for the others is smart. However, you have to sabotage SMARTLY. Do it like Jill & Amber did after a while, when you have stable resources, to the teams far away from your camp," a fan commented.
Bayo flared out in Outlast season 2 episode 2
Bayo was part of Camp Alpha in Outlast season 2. Other members of his team included Zach, Tre, and Tonia. Although Bayo had no experience with hunting, he became the first person from his team to catch prey while hunting a squirrel.
Although his teammates praised him for hunting, they were at odds after Bayo stole Camp Bravo's pots and cans. Zach and the rest of Camp Alpha were upset with Bayo's actions and voted him out of Camp Alpha.
The Outlast season 2 cast member chimed in on the situation online and said that although he accepted their decision, he felt "betrayed." He said he believed he had a team but was wrong. As part of the show's format, Bayo had 24 hours to find another team before he was disqualified.
The Outlast season 2 cast member decided not to find another team and self-eliminated. He flared out in episode 2. Fans of the show discussed the situation online and a majority of X users disagreed with Bayo's strategy.
Outlast season 2 will air its final two episodes on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, on Netflix.
