Episode 7 of Love Island USA season 7 was released on June 9. After the previous episode documented a recoupling ceremony, episode 7 saw these couples getting to know each other better.
Ace chose to couple up with the new bombshell, Amaya, after she entered the villa in the episode. He chose her over Chelley, with whom he felt an initial connection. In episode 7, Ace set some things straight with her when it came to them as a couple.
He asked her not to call him "babe" and not to hold his hand in public either. When Amaya said she would comply, Ace told her she was being passively aggressive.

He believed that he was only asking her to do things that he would want from a relationship.
Ace's behavior was especially shocking to the fans because after Amaya was chosen over Chelley, they expected him to treat her right. Fans of Love Island USA came to X to react to Ace's demands to Amaya.
"I get boundaries but calling you Babe is an issue? Why did he pick her? Why is he here?" a fan said.
"Ace laying down the house rules with Amaya has me crying so bad he said if I dont touch u don't be too shocked," said another.
"What’s crazy is Ace tried to play it like Amaya is the one that wanted to be boo’ed up… when all the girl wanted was to be treated like YOUR PICK!!! It’s not even about being “BOO’d up,” like damn you don’t want the girl to even BREATHE AROUND YOU!," added a third.

Some fans of Love Island USA compared his behavior with Amaya to his behavior with Chelley and believed that he wouldn't treat the latter the same way.

In Love Island USA season 7, Ace asked Amaya what she liked calling her partner, and she said she liked giving them their own personal nickname, or she liked calling them babe.
Ace said the word was a lot for him to take, and he didn't want her to call him that.
"I don't know what the f*ck is going on and I'm not liking it to be honest," she added.
She stated that whatever she was calling him felt natural. But after Ace firmly ascertained his boundaries, she told him she knew her value and was going to beg no man to value her.
She added that she didn't want to force anyone to bond with her.
