Lyric Cook-Morrisey and Elizabeth Collins were mere kids when an awful event disrupted their lives and left their family members looking for answers even over a decade later. 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrisey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins became the victims of a brutal double murder in Evansdale, Iowa, a case that continues to haunt the locals of the area.

Dating back to 2012, this case saw the cousins getting abducted while out riding their bikes. No trace of the two young girls was found for months, before local hunters, Kevin Dramstad and Amanda Miller, found the two children's dead bodies in Seven Bridges Wildlife Area, almost 20 miles away from Evansdale, Iowa.

The case is once again back in the limelight because of HBO Max's latest three-part true0crime docuseries, Taken Together: Who Killed Lyric and Elizabeth? The synopsis of the same reads:

"Explores the 2012 abduction of cousins Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins in Evansdale, Iowa, featuring exclusive access, interviews, and new information surrounding the haunting case over seven years."

Just like the title of the docuseries, the case of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrisey's murder still remains a huge mystery, with the police still not finding the desired suspect.

With the hunt still on, let us take a look at what happened with Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrisey.

Who were Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrisey and what happened to them?

Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Lyric Ray Lynn Cook-Morrisey was born to Misty Cook-Morrissey and Daniel Morrissey. Described as an energetic kid with a lot of hobbies, Lyric Cook-Morrisey was always playing outside. She also shared a close bond with her cousin, Elizabeth Collins.

Elizabeth Collins was born on July 31, 2003, and was only eight years old when the infamous abduction took place. She was also born in Waterloo, Iowa, and was a social child with lots of hobbies. In particular, Collins loved playing Hockey.

Elizabeth and Lyric did almost everything together from a young age and played outside regularly. However, on July 13, 2012, Lyric and Elizabeth went out with their bikes but never returned home. When they did not return home for hours, the family grew concerned and started looking for the children.

Soon, they were reported missing, and the authorities got involved. After some searching, police found their bikes on the trail of Meyers Lake, with no sign of the children. Elizabeth's purse was also with the bikes, with her phone in it.

Authorities began their investigation and went over practically everyone, including the family members. Months passed by with no leads and finally in December 2012, two local hunters, Kevin Dramstad and Amanda Miller, found the dead bodies of the two children in the Seven Bridges Wildlife Area.

This turned the missing person investigation into a homicide one. However, the investigation has still not led anywhere concrete.

The police went over possible suspects and repeat offenders, but could not kink anyone to the murder case. As of now, this remains an open case with no clue as to who the murderer was or what their motive was.
