Twitch star Kai Cenat has recently announced that he will be quitting livestreaming to pursue a career in professional basketball. The popular content creator had just finished Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in a marathon stream lasting about 46 hours when he made the announcement. While fans probably expected Kai Cenat to tease his next marathon game series, the Twitch streamer has thrown everyone off by announcing his retirement from streaming.
In a post on X dated September 22, 2024, Kai said farewell to his community, stating:
"I'm quitting streaming and becoming a professional basketball player. Goodbye."
Kai Cenat claims he is in a lottery to be drafted into a professional basketball league after announcing he will be quitting streaming
As mentioned, Kai Cenat made the announcement first on his Twitch stream after finishing the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice marathon. The streamer acknowledged how good the video gaming and livestreaming gig was, before surprising his fans by claiming he is quitting content creation until further notice:
"The gaming sh*t is cool, the streaming sh*t is cool. It's time to take it up a notch. Chat, until further notice, I am quitting streaming, okay? I will no longer be streaming anymore."
The streamer went on to explain why he was quitting streaming, revealing that he was set to pursue a career as a professional basketball player:
"You may ask what am I doing, okay? Until further notice chat, I am not going to be streaming anymore. I am now completing phase two of being a professional basketball player."
Responding to viewers making fun of him, Kai Cenat announced that he had been selected into a lottery for getting drafted into a basketball league:
"You might be like what the f**k? Listen to me, don't laugh, don't laugh. No, no, don't laugh. I get drafted in a few days. I don't know whether I will be drafted, but I am in the lottery, okay? I am in the lottery for a league. Don't laugh, bro."
Kai Cenat has not provided more information about the supposed basketball league where he might get drafted. It seems fans will have to wait a few days to see if the Twitch streamer accomplishes his plans of becoming a professional athlete.
That said, Kai Cenat has already played basketball at the top stage, having been on Shannon Sharpe's team at this year's NBA Celebrity All-Star Game where he managed a one-star rating.
