A young Belgian YouTuber named Storm De Beul (or simply "Storm") has tragically passed away during a trek in Swedish Lapland (a province in northernmost Sweden). For those curious, Storm had a YouTube channel that mostly showcased his adventures across Norway and later in Sweden. At the time of writing, he had just over 2.4K subscribers to his name.
His last video on his channel is titled Camping in the Forest - No Shelter. The video was uploaded on October 23, 2024, a week before his tragic demise. It has garnered over 52K views as of now, with fans pouring in their heartfelt messages.
De Beul was stuck in a snowstorm that hit the area he was in. According to reports, around 2 AM, the YouTuber had called the emergency services from the woods near Jokkmokk. However, due to the fierce weather, the emergency services could not reach him in time.
The reports also suggest that the YouTuber had strayed off his campsite, possibly looking for a way out of the woods. His body was found in the woods the following day (October 31, 2024).
YouTuber's last words revealed before his tragic demise
Storm De Beul's final words have recently come to light, sparking a strong reaction within the community. In a video message he recorded for his friend, the YouTuber spoke about the worsening weather conditions. He said:
"Tonight, it's going to get worse. Jesus Christ."
In a separate message to his grandmother, he said:
"It’s snowing heavily here, but don’t worry, I’ll survive, you know."
Leuven Actueel, a Belgian news outlet, received a heartfelt comment from Storm De Beul's grandmother, who announced the passing of her eldest grandson. She said:
"My eldest grandson, our sporty loner Storm, was found dead on October 30 in Swedish Lapland. He was caught in a snowstorm one day from his final destination. Rescue services couldn’t reach him due to the severe weather."
The adventure YouTuber's parents, Bout and Elisabeth, also spoke with Belgian media, surmising what might have happened. They said:
"Trees were uprooted that night. Maybe his tent also blew away and he had no choice but to start walking."
His mother added:
"He must have suffered for a long time and died alone. I keep imagining his last moments. It devastates me."
The YouTuber's father also shared his intention to search for his filming equipment to retrieve the footage. This suggests that when the body was found, Storm De Beul did not have his devices with him.
