Two of the WNBA’s struggling teams are set to collide Sunday as the Chicago Sky head to Connecticut to face the Sun in a Commissioner’s Cup showdown. Both squads arrive with 2-7 records, tied for the league's second-worst mark, and only one will inch ahead in the standings.
This will be the season’s first meeting between the two. Chicago’s pair of victories came against the Dallas Wings, while Connecticut claimed wins over the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever.
Here’s a preview of Saturday’s Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun game, scheduled to tip off at noon ET at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun preview
Both teams enter off losses. The Sky have dropped three straight after earning back-to-back wins over the Wings in their only victories of the season.
The Sun are 2-2 in their last four, each win followed by a demoralizing blowout. After edging Indiana 85-83, they were thrashed 100-52 by New York. Then, after beating Atlanta 84-76, they suffered a 104-67 loss to Washington.
Neither team has found any consistency, struggling on both ends of the floor. Offensively, they rank last in efficiency — Sky at No. 12 (93.2) and Sun dead last (90.4). Defensively, they’ve also been shaky — Sky are 12th with a 111.2 rating, while the Sun sit 13th with a league-worst 112.9.
One potential difference-maker? Rebounding. Led by Angel Reese, the Sky rank fourth in the league, pulling down 36.7 boards per game, while the Sun are at the bottom with just 29.8.
The Sun will miss Rayah Marshall due to an ankle issue. The Sky remain without Moriah Jefferson (lower leg) and Courtney Vandersloot, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.
