The Chicago Sky travel East to face the New York Liberty in the Commissioner's Cup on Tuesday. This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with the first in Chicago yielding a 99-74 win for the Liberty. The inter-conference game will be played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The two teams are coming off contrasting records in the league. The Liberty (8-0) remain the only one alongside the Lynx with an unbeaten record, while the Sky (2-5) are struggling. Their only wins this season have come against the Dallas Wings, who are bottom of the standings.
The Liberty, meanwhile, continue its charge at the top of the table. Aiming to win back-to-back titles, they are second in the table, with a win enough to elevate them to first. In the Commissioner's Cup, the Liberty (2-0) lead the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Sky are 11th in the regular season standings, with only the Connecticut Sun and the Dallas Wings faring worse. Their Cup form isn't any better, as they bottom of the Eastern Conference, with a 0-1 record.
Although the odds are against Chicago, they will hope to avenge their loss to the Fever in the last game and hand the Liberty its first loss. The Liberty, though, will be determined to keep their winning streak alive, especially after the Lynx's win over the Wings on Monday night.
