On Saturday, the Las Vegas Aces travel to California to face the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center in the Commissioner's Cup. This will be the first meeting between the two teams, as the two are yet to play each other after the Valkyries joined the league as an expansion team.
This will be the Aces' second game of the in-season tournament. In their first game, they beat the Seattle Storm 75-70. They are second in the Commissioner's Cup standings, so a win will give them reflect a similar record to the Minnesota Lynx, who are first.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Valkyries are at the bottom of the Cup table after losing both games. In their first Commissioner's Cup game, they lost 86-75 to the Minnesota Lynx before losing 86-77 to the Phoenix Mercury.
The two teams have had contrasting results in the regular season. The Aces are third with a 4-2 record, while the Vlakyries are third from bottom with two wins and five losses.
This game will also serve as a reunion for Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase and guard Kate Martin, as they were a part of the Aces team before their move to the Valkyries in the offseason.
