The WNBA Finals returns to the Big Apple with the New York Liberty hosting the Minnesota Lynx for Game 5 on Sunday night. This has been a fascinating back-and-forth series with both teams showing tremendous resilience in the first four games. Sunday's winner-take-all championship game promises to be an entertaining matchup between two of the league's most talented teams.
Minnesota finished the regular season with an impressive 30-10 record to rank first in the Western Conference. They boast one of the best defenses in the league and held opposing teams to just 75.6 points per game. Only the Connecticut Sun allowed fewer points (73.6).
Led by Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, New York set the pace this year. The Liberty finished with a league-best 32-8 record and have been exceptional at the Barclays Center where they lost just four regular season games. They are known for their dynamic offense, which averaged 85.6 points per game. Only the Las Vegas Aces (86.4) averaged more points over the regular season.
Minnesota Lynx vs New York Liberty: Predicted starting lineups and depth charts
Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryle Reeve has stayed consistent with her starting lineup through most of the season and continued that trend in the playoffs. Through the first four WNBA Finals games, the starting five have remained unchanged and we expect to see Courtney Williams, Kayla McBride, Napheesa Collier, Bridget Carleton and Alanna Smith take the court.
Minnesota Lynx depth chart
Like her counterpart, coach Sandy Brondello has stuck with a fixed starting five through most of the season. The Liberty have no reported injuries going into Sunday's matchup so they should come out with the same five that have started every finals game so far. Sabrina Ionescu, Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, Leonia Fiebich, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones are expected to begin the game.

Minnesota Lynx vs New York Liberty: Players to watch
Napheesa Collier will need to be at her best on Sunday if the Lynx have any chance of overcoming a talented New York Liberty side. Over 11 playoff games, she is averaging 23.9 points, 9.1 rebounds 3.5 assists and 1.9 blocks.
