While most of the WNBA was enjoying an elongated break for the Olympics, A'ja Wilson was among those competing for the last two weeks for Team USA. With the Summer Games finally behind her, the former MVP joked on social media about having downtime.

Now that the Olympics are over, the WNBA season is ready to resume. The regular season will kick back up on Thursday, giving the women from Team USA less than a week to rest and recouperate.

Following the United States' gold medal win on Sunday, A'ja Wilson jokingly posted on X (formerly Twitter) about her minimal All-Star break finally starting.

Thankfully for Wilson, the Las Vegas Aces don't play their first game until Saturday. However, it will be a big matchup. They are slated to face off against the New York Liberty in a rematch of last season's WNBA Finals.

Before the break, Wilson emerged as the clear frontrunner for MVP. This season, she is posting dominant averages of 27.2 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists. As for the Aces, they currently sit in fifth place in the standings with a 16-8 record.

Coming off an impressive run in the Olympics, Wilson will now attempt to keep the momentum rolling as the WNBA season ramps back up.

After winning all of their games in dominant fashion, A'ja Wilson and Team USA found themselves on the brink of an upset in the gold medal game. France hung around to the final moments, and their run came to a heartbreaking end.

Gabby Williams knocked down her final attempt at the buzzer, but it wasn't enough to send the game into overtime. After her shot was deemed a two-pointer, the United States walked away with a 67-66 victory.

After the game, A'ja Wilson posted a photo of herself on social media with her newly acquired gold medal. In the caption, she expressed gratitude for getting to be part of Team USA's dynasty.

Wilson was a major catalyst in the United States taking down France in the gold medal game. She put together a dominant outing, finishing with 21 points, 13 rebounds, one steal and four blocks.

The Las Vegas Aces star was Team USA's top player all tournament, which led to her taking home some added honors. On Sunday, she was named as the MVP for women's basketball in the Olympics. Across all six games, Wilson averaged 18.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

With their win over France, Team USA's women's team continues to dominate in the Olympics. They have now won the gold medal for an impressive eighth straight time.
