Earlier this season, Angel Reese cemented herself as one of the top rookies in the WNBA. Despite things not ending how she might have wanted it to, the Chicago Sky forward remains in good spirits.

On Sept. 7, Reese announced on social media that she would miss the rest of the season due to a wrist injury. As she continues her road to recovery, the No. 7 pick of the 2024 WNBA draft shared some positive words for her fans.

Angel Reese posted a video on her Instagram story from her commute on Monday morning while she sang along to SZA's hit song "Open Arms." Reese wrote a caption to help people start their week off strong.

Before her season-ending injury, fans and analysts had Reese in the Rookie of the Year conversation along with Caitlin Clark. In 34 games with the Sky, she averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds. She was also one of two first-year players to be named an All-Star and made history by setting the new single-season rebounding record.

Angel Reese still heavily invested in the Chicago Sky

Even though she is sidelined, Angel Reese's competitive spirit has not wavered. This was on full display during the Chicago Sky's game against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.

Since being shut down for the remainder of the season, Reese has been on the sidelines in a cast supporting her team. During the Sky and Mercury game, the rookie forward was very animated when she spoke to coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

Thanks to strong performances from Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, the Mercury won 93-88. The Sky have now lost three games in a row, and 10 of their last 12 outings.

Before Angel Reese got hurt, Chicago was holding on to the final playoff spot. They had some breathing room in the standings, but that is no longer the case.

With two games to go on their schedule, Chicago is in a three-way tie for the No. 8 seed. They are deadlocked with the Atlanta Dream and Washington Mystics, who also have 13-25 records.

The Sky have no margin for error if they want to keep their postseason dreams alive. On Tuesday, they'll have a big matchup against the Atlanta Dream before their regular season finale against the Connecticut Sun two days later.
