Resurfaced lingerie photos of Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese taken from a shoot last year proved to be too much for some fans, who were moved to criticize her on social media.
In now-viral photos circulating on X, formerly Twitter, the 22-year-old poses in lingerie. The images were reportedly taken after she helped the LSU Tigers win the NCAA women's title last year. Reese initially shared the photos on Instagram but deleted them after.
The photos, however, have resurfaced and fans immediately shared their thoughts and many took aim at Angel Reese. One fan reminded the Sky star forward of how the photos were in direct contradiction to her call not to sexualize her, saying:
"She hates when ppl sexualize her."
"'Angel Reese said 'Stop sexualizing me' and then did this," another said.
"Ain't this the same woman that hates when ppl sexualize her," another wrote.
Some comments, meanwhile, shared their disbelief that a player of Reese's stature should go such a "route."
"Whats this," one fan asked.
"No," said another directly.
"She being silly now," a user said.
Some fans questioned her priority as a basketball player.
"Why is she constantly in the media but it's never for being good at basketball?," one fan asked.
"'Lmao. I have never heard one thing about Angel Reese that is to do with her playing basketball she too busy tryna fit w the celebs," another user said.
Reese had an eventful rookie season for the Sky, leading the league in rebounds with 13.1 boards to go along with 13.6 points and 1.3 steals per game. Her season was cut short at 34 games because of a wrist injury just as Chicago missed the playoffs.
Angel Reese speaks against being sexualized
Angel Reese admits to being confident with her body and is not shy in expressing her sexuality through her fashion. But she underscored that it does not mean she agrees to being sexualized by others for being herself.
The Chicago Sky rookie touched on this following his final collegiate season earlier this year while speaking to the media:
"I've been attacked so may times, death threats, I've sexualized, I've been threatened, I've been so many things, and I've stood strong every single time."
Reese said that dealing with such things has been tough but has vowed to continue being herself, going about her thing and staying confident both on and off the basketball court.
