Breanna Stewart and the NY Liberty punched their tickets to the WNBA finals for the second time in a row on Sunday. Excellent performances by Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu helped the Liberty to seal the deal against the Aces. Ionescu netted 22 points while Stewart was just behind her with 19.
After the game, Stewart attended a press conference where she dedicated the victory to her wife and paid tribute to her father-in-law who passed away on Oct. 5.
"No matter what, it’s a really tough time," Stewart said. "And just the way the series went last year, kinda going through all of that and making sure this year is different."
She revealed that she had her mentality set on going out there and securing the win for her wife. Xargay posted the footage of the press conference on her Instagram story and shared her response in front of her 69.1K followers.
"Love you! I know he's so proud of you," Xargay wrote.
It was a special moment for both Stewart and her wife as they shared a warm hug after the game ended. The couple have been going strong for three years and parent two children together.
