WNBA: Indiana Fever at New York Liberty

For their third game of the season, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever faced off against the New York Liberty. This contest is also the second straight game that the Fever played against the Liberty and it served as a bounce-back game for this year's first overall pick.

Clark saw 34 minutes of action and recorded 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field (4-for-10 on three-pointers). She also recorded eight assists, six rebounds and one steal.

However, her turnover woes continued against the Liberty as she coughed the ball up eight times. The Fever also suffered their third straight loss with a final score of 91-80 and are now 0-3 for the season.

Caitlin Clark's 22 points against the Liberty tonight are the most that she has scored in her WNBA career so far. However, seeing that this is just her third WNBA career game, she will likely surpass this mark eventually.

Caitlin Clark is off to a slow start in the WNBA

Many hoops fans were hyped for Caitlin Clark's WNBA debut against the Connecticut Sun and in some ways, it is fair to say that she did not disappoint, especially in the scoring department.

She scored 20 points, which led the Indiana Fever. However, she also showed her inexperience by turning the ball over 10 times.

In her second career game, which was against the New York Liberty, she only scored nine points on 2-for-8 shooting from the field (1-for-7 from downtown). She also had six assists and seven rebounds.

Her bounce-back game against the Liberty shows that while she can be quite inconsistent, she is capable of having some big-scoring games. However, the biggest concern for Clark is her tendency to turn the ball over.

In her three regular-season games so far, Clark has already turned the ball over 21 times. That's an average of 7.0 turnovers per game, which is leading the league. Her turnover rate is much higher than her assist average at this point in the season, which is 5.7 per game.

Her turnover rates as a primary ballhandler are troubling. Nonetheless, her scoring can be considered an advantage. Currently, she averages 17.0 points per game on 40% shooting. She's also made all of her free throws thus far.

With only three games into her WNBA career, Clark is expected to struggle. However, the lows of her career will be amplified due to the hype she has received as well as the fact that she is the number one overall pick in her draft class.
