LA Sparks rookie Cameron Brink and TCU star Hailey Van Lith had made the final cut for the 3x3 USA Women's Basketball Team for the Paris Olympics. However, due to her ACL injury, Brink had to drop her name from the roster. Despite that, Brink and Lith have remained great friends off the court.
On September 9, Van Lith celebrated her 23rd birthday. Her teammate Brink took to her social media to wish the former LSU star a lovely happy birthday. On her Instagram story, Brink wrote:
“Happy birthday to my left hand luv uu,” Cameron Brink wrote.
Cameron Brink and Hailey Van Lith have played on the national team for five years. Together, they have represented Team USA in the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup, the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup and the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup.
Van Lith and Brink bagged gold medals for each tournament they played together. Without Brink's participation, the 3x3 USA Women's Basketball Team snagged a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After playing for LSU for the 2023-24 season, Van Lith transferred to the TCU Horned Frogs. She is in her fifth and final year of college. Van Lith is expected to enter the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Cameron Brink shows love to her rookie teammate Rickea Jackson
The Los Angeles Sparks owned two picks in the first round of the 2024 WNBA draft. The team selected Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson at No. 2 and No. 4 respectively.
While Brink was having a historic season with the Sparks, she went down with a season-ending ACL injury in June. However, Jackson, who started the season from the bench, was quickly inserted into the starting lineup. Currently, Jackson is one of the top performers for her team.
In an interview with “Fastbreak on SI,” Cameron Brink was asked if sharing her experience with Jackson has eased the pressure of playing in the league as a rookie:
"Oh, 100 percent. She's my girl,” she said. “I freaking love her. She's doing so well right now. It definitely means a lot to have someone by your side who is going through the same thing, who knows what it's like to have those nerves and not really know what's going on. She's the best.”
This season, Jackson is averaging 12.8 points on 45.7% shooting from the field and 35.0% shooting from beyond the arc. She is also averaging 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
