In September, Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter made a significant decision regarding her plans for the 2024 WNBA offseason. Carter agreed to terms with Wuhan of China's WCBA during the seven-month break between WNBA seasons.
She wasn't invited to Napheesa Collier and Brianna Stewart's Unrivaled League, so she had to look for an opportunity elsewhere. After asking fans which number she should wear in China (seven, three or one), she made her debut in the competition.
Carter shared a video of her first bucket, a 3-pointer, on her Instagram story on Wednesday.
"first shot overseas was a 3 pointer and 1," Carter captioned.
The next story featured three letters that seemingly described her performance.
"MVP," Carter wrote.
Carter also took to X to let her fans know that she had a terrific first half from beyond the arc.
"first shot overseas was a 3 pointer and 1 🤭🔥 @ the half 4/6 from deep !" she tweeted.
Carter is coming off the best season of her WNBA career and is hoping to carry the momentum overseas.
Chennedy Carter had a strong 2023-24 season in China

She then signed a training camp deal with the Chicago Sky. Carter played her way to the starting lineup and ended the season as the team's best scorer.
Despite suffering injuries, she was the most consistent player for the Sky, playing 33 games. She averaged 26.0 minutes, 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. She shot 48.7% from the field and 73.0% from the free-throw line.
Chennedy Carter was in the running to win the Most Improved Player of the Year award while trying to lead the Sky to the postseason.
