In a now-viral clip, Angel Reese clapped back at critics who mock her for frequently rebounding her own missed shots,. Rather than taking offense at the term “mebounds” — coined to troll her — the Chicago Sky star is embracing it. In fact, Reese thanked her detractors for unintentionally handing her a marketing opportunity.

"Whoever came up with the 'mebounds' thing, y'all ate that up," Reese said. "Because mebounds, crebounds, keybounds, tebounds... Anything that comes off the board, it's mine."
"Whoever came up with that, the trolling, I love when y'all do it, because the ideas be good," she continued. "When y'all came up with mebounds — cause, statistically, all the rebounds I get aren't always just mine. They're the defenses, too, or somebody else's on my team — but when y'all came up with mebounds, y'all [ate]."

The viral moment caught the attention of ESPN analyst Monica McNutt, who was clearly impressed by Reese’s business-first mindset.

“The girl gets it, come on 6 figuresssss,” McNutt commented.

Irrespective of what the haters might say, Angel Reese has already cemented her status as the premier rebounder in the WNBA. Since entering the league, she has shattered multiple rebounding records already, including becoming the first player to collect 100 rebounds in the 2025 season.

Even with a slight dip in her overall numbers compared to last year, Reese still leads the league in rebounds per game (11.8).

Monica McNutt defends Angel Reese from Caitlin Clark fans

Angel Reese has been facing constant criticism for her recent performances, resulting in ESPN analyst Monica McNutt coming to her defense. McNutt generalized that much of the negativity came from Caitlin Clark’s fans, urging them to support their favorite player without mocking others.

"Caitlin Clark fans: You can love your favorite player and say nothing about Angel Reese," she said. "Like our parents used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

McNutt has consistently advocated equal treatment across the league. However, by constantly favoring Reese, especially if the conversation involves Clark, she has sparked debates on social media.

Speaking about the controversial flagrant foul during the season opener between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky, McNutt argued that the public’s outburst would’ve been different had the roles been reversed.
