On Saturday, Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams defended teammate Napheesa Collier amid rising hate for her MVP-level performances. The forward has been one of the best performers this season and leads the league in scoring. Her performances have been key in helping the Lynx maintain their unbeaten record so far.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Williams was seen passionately defending her teammate amid ongoing criticism. The MVP front-runner exemplified leadership on and off the court and received support from the former All-Star during a live stream.
"I feel like people try and find a reason to hate on Phee, like you can't find nothing on the girl to hate about, so you just all, like reaching, you reaching for something to hate on the girl. Like, how can you hate on Phee?" Williams questioned.
Courtney Williams explained how Collier's new Unrivaled league has been a boon for players. She also asked for an explanation on the hate, as she continues to be an example on and off the court.
"She don’t talk shit, she don’t be in no trouble off the court ... She literally created a league for players to stay home instead of going overseas ... Damn, I don’t be understand the Phee hate. Somebody explain to me what she has done," she continued.
Courtney Williams showed love to Collier amid her stellar season for the Minnesota Lynx. The franchise currently tops the table alongside the NY Liberty, reflecting an 8-0 record. The four-time WNBA All-Star is making an early case for MVP, as she averages 25.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

With the 2025 WNBA season entering its second month, the league awarded its player of the month awards for May on June 4. In the Eastern Conference, Alisha Gray was awarded the honor for her exemplary performance, while Napheesa Collier bagged the accolade in the West.
The league announced the winners on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a graphic of Collier and Gray. The Lynx forward received the award for leading her team in the West as they continue their unbeaten streak.
Napheesa Collier recorded 26.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in May while her team mustered a 6-0 record.
