The Dallas Wings vs Chicago Sky contest was crucial for the Chicago-based squad as it tries to secure a playoff spot. The Sky had to play without one of their key players after Angel Reese announced that she would be out for the rest of the season due to a wrist injury.

The urgency was evident from the Sky as soon as the game tipped off. Immediately, the Sky showed some aggression as they started the game on a 9-2 run. The Wings closed the gap to three points (13-10) by the six-minute mark, but their run would not last as the Sky pulled away again.

For the rest of the period, Chicago got hot and stayed hot while Dallas struggled to keep up. By the time the first quarter ended, the Sky held a 14-point lead (33-19).

The Wings tried to make a comeback by firing the opening salvo of the second quarter. Around the 6:30 mark, they had cut the lead down to only 11 points but the Sky responded by catching fire again.

For the rest of the quarter of the Dallas Wings vs Chicago Sky contest, the Sky held the Wings at bay and they ended the first half with a sizable lead (51-35).

Despite the Wings' efforts, the Sky continued their dominance in the third quarter. Chennedy Carter took charge as her team looked to establish a bigger lead to put away their opponents.

The Sky used their momentum to grow their lead, out-scoring the Wings in the third quarter by eight points and increasing the deficit between the two teams by 20 (78-54).

Things started to turn around for the Wings in the fourth quarter as they attempted a spirited comeback. The Sky saw their lead begin to dwindle and with a little under four minutes left, they were only ahead by 14 (85-71).

However, the hole that the Wings dug for themselves proved too big for them to crawl out of. They could not maintain their hot start to the fourth quarter was eventually extinguished. Toward the end of the game, the Sky ramped up their performance again to finally put the Wings away. The game concluded with Chicago winning by 15 points (92-77).

Kamilla Cardoso shines, steps up in Angel Reese’s absence

With Angel Reese dominating as the Sky’s rookie, Kamilla Cardoso might have been flying under the radar of some fans. However, she had to step up tonight with Angel Reese not suiting up.

Cardoso stepped up big time, grabbing more rebounds than anyone else on the Wings, or in the game for that matter.

The 2024 third-overall pick grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and she secured a double-double with 10 points. Tonight’s performance marks the sixth double-double for Cardoso this season and she also had a decent defensive performance. She blocked two shots and came away with one steal to solidify a fantastic performance.

With Reese being sidelined for the rest of the season and the Sky still hunting for a Playoff spot, the Sky are hoping for more solid performances like tonight for their remaining games this season.
