Minnesota Lynx star Courtney Williams was stunned after seeing Dallas Wings forward NaLyssa Smith’s new hair-down look.

Smith, widely recognized for her signature braids, switched things up by rocking what Williams called a “bussdown wig,” a sharp contrast to her usual look, according to Williams and teammate Natasha Hiedeman.

Upon seeing Smith’s transformation during her Twitch show Studbudz, Williams immediately reacted:

“Whoa, Lyss is cutting up! That look like a bad b***h. That is not giving stud at all.”

Williams then FaceTimed Smith’s girlfriend, Wings guard DiJonai Carrington.

“Lyss look like a bad b***h right now. If we didn't know Lyss at all, and we just seen that picture, we would have thought she was with you, not with us,” Williams told Carrington, referencing Smith’s more femme-presenting look compared to her usual more androgynous style.

They later added Smith to the call, where Williams told her:

“It's giving you and DiJonai and not with us. That's what it's giving.”

Smith responded:

“Oh, I look like I'm with the girls?”

Courtney Williams’ Lynx, DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith’s Wings on opposite paths to start 2025 season

The start of the 2025 WNBA season has looked very different for the Lynx and Wings. Minnesota opened the year 9-0, remaining undefeated alongside defending champion New York Liberty.

Dallas, meanwhile, is off to a rough start, winning just one of its first 10 games despite a high-profile offseason that included the addition of UConn star Paige Bueckers.

Carrington recently joined Studbudz to discuss the vibe in the Wings’ locker room amid the struggles.

"Even though we’re losing right now, there’s no problems in the locker room,” Carrington said. “So you're still like, 'All right, we're trying to figure it out'. It’s not like 'Ugh, I gotta go to work.'"
"I think the locker room is one of the most important things when you're building a team," Carrington added.

The Lynx will aim to reach double-digit wins as they take on the Seattle Storm next, followed by two games against the LA Sparks and a matchup with the Las Vegas Aces.

The Wings, hoping to get back on track, face the Phoenix Mercury before games against the Aces and the Golden State Valkyries.
