Tyler Marsh has been appointed as the Chicago Sky's new coach following Teresa Weatherspoon's dismissal after just one season in charge of the 2021 WNBA champions. According to NBA insider Bobby Marks, Marsh signed a multi-year deal for the position.

It didn't take long for WNBA fans to react, flooding social media with comments about the move and their requests for the new coach. Some fans specifically focused on Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, as they are considered the cornerstones of the team's future.

"I really don’t like Tyler Marsh now I gotta support him cuz he coaching my girls. I don’t like this but he better make Angel and Kamilla shine," one fan said.
"We'll see if he can get Angel to pass to her open teammates after getting the rebound. If he can't this is going to be a short tenure," another fan said.

Other fans were ecstatic with the decision, congratulating Tyler Marsh on the new job and mentioning one of the traits that makes him a good pickup for the Sky.

"Glad Dallas coach wasn’t picked Jeff has been making some very good decisions very excited for the draft now," one fan said.

Angel Reese seemingly reacts after Chicago Sky signed Tyler Marsh as new head coach

As usual, Angel Reese reacted to the news on social media. While she didn't directly address Tyler Marsh's hiring, she shared a one-letter message that seemed to reflect her message.

"W," she tweeted on Saturday.

Similarly, Angel Reese reacted to Teresa Weatherspoon getting fired by the Sky after a 13-27 season. It was Weatherspoon's first and only season in charge of the team after a tumultuous campaign filled with injuries and other challenges that affected the team's development.

"I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me. Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a black woman in sports when nobody believes in you," Reese tweeted in September.

Tyler Marsh's previous role in the WNBA was as an assistant with the Las Vegas Aces, where he served as the Head of Player Development for the team that won back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. Sky fans will be hoping he can replicate that success with their franchise while helping Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso reach new heights.
