A crowd of 4,200 was present at CareFirst Arena on Sunday to watch the Washington Mystics take on the Connecticut Sun. Among those in attendance was Dallas Cowboys linebacker Marist Liufau, who came out to support his girlfriend, Sonia Citron.
Following the Mystics’ dominant 104-67 victory, photos of Liufau embracing and congratulating Citron quickly went viral on social media.
“Marist and sonia are cute he might be the only WNBA boyfriend i support,” the graphic read.

During a social media segment for the Washington Mystics, Sonia Citron sat down for a conversation with teammate Brittney Sykes. At one point, Sykes openly admitted—on behalf of herself and the rest of the team—that they hadn’t yet followed Citron on Instagram.
"We don't follow you back. That is on my to-do list," Sykes admitted.
Rather than take offense, Citron used the moment as a source of motivation.
“I'm not a substantial figure where you would… I just figured that I have to prove myself and then maybe I'll get a follow."
Sykes instantly clapped back at Citron, offering a vote of confidence.
"Yes you are. You were the third pick. What do you mean? No, you instantly get a follow."
So far, Citron has had a strong start to her rookie season. By averaging 14 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, she’s established her position as the Mystics' starting guard and deserves a follow-back from her teammates.
