Chicago Sky star rookie Angel Reese is done for the season after announcing that she suffered a season-ending injury. Fans immediately picked up the development and shared their thoughts on social media.
The seventh overall pick in this year's WNBA draft shared the unfortunate news on X, formerly known as "Twitter." It was later confirmed by the team that she suffered a wrist injury in their game against the LA Sparks on Friday. The news came as a shock as she was having an eventful rookie season, which saw her establish herself as a rebounding and double-double force.
Angel Reese shared mixed emotions about the turn of events, satisfied that she was able to prove herself on the big stage but disappointed it was cut short. Part of her post read:
"Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so. I'm filled with emotions right now that I have a season-ending injury, but also filled with gratitude for what is next..."

Prior to getting hurt, Angel Reese set a new WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season with 446 boards, eclipsing the previous record of 404 set by Sylvia Fowles in Minnesota in 2018.
Reese finished her rookie campaign with averages of 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds (league-high), 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 34 games.
