Angel Reese and Las Vegas Aces veteran Sydney Colson jokingly went at it on social media on Saturday over the signing of Tyler Marsh. After firing Teresa Weatherspoon after only a season as their head coach, the Sky turned their attention to the Aces assistant coach and Head of Player Development.
Marsch signed a multi-year deal to join the Sky, which sparked reactions from his new and old players. After Angel Reese reacted to the news with a single letter, "W," Sydney Colson jokingly called her out and asked her to show respect.
"Excuse me?! We’re grieving, have some 🤬 respect!" Colson tweeted on Saturday.
Reese took this opportunity to tell Colson that the Sky are next after the Aces won back-to-back champions in 2022 and 2023. Moreover, she tried to recruit Colson to Chicago.
"Sorry but your time is UP. It’s our turn! I’ll send you some tissue tho sister girl unless you want to come join this side too🤭," Reese replied.
"Lmaoo u just pissed me off so bad with this 😂😒," Colson replied.
The Chicago Sky only won 13 games last season, leading to Teresa Weatherspoon's firing. The franchise has Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso as their cornerstones, but they need to bring fitting pieces for this new project. It'll be another fresh start with a rookie coach and another lottery pick in the 2025 Draft.
Tyler Marsh had experience playing at a collegiate level with UAB and Birmingham-Southern before transitioning into a coaching role. He was a member of the Indiana Pacers' coaching staff under Nate Bjorkgren (2020-21) and Rick Carlisle (2021-22) and also had a stint with the Toronto Raptors.
Angel Reese will try to improve upon strong rookie season in Year 2 under Tyler Marsh
After a terrific start to her career, Angel Reese is ready to take her game to new heights and try to lead the Chicago Sky to the WNBA playoffs. They missed the big party for the first time since 2018 and that should be a wake-up call for the front office to try to assemble a team that can eventually go toe-to-toe with the top squads in the league.
Reese played 34 games before a wrist injury cut her season short. She averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 32.5 minutes per contest. She shot 39.1% from the field and 73.6% from the free-throw line. The rookie forward has a bright future, but she still has room for improvement.
