Indiana Fever guard Sydney Colson has clarified that her recent comments about the nature of breakups were not made in reference to Halle Bailey and DDG’s controversial split.
Bailey and DDG are locked in a custody battle over their son after reportedly splitting last year. In a court filing, DDG detailed an alleged encounter when Bailey was suicidal and had an emotional breakdown while possessing a firearm.
Colson, meanwhile, shared a video of herself on Instagram describing how people act following a breakup.
“Hey, y'all, I just want to say, if you're the kind of person who, after getting broken up with romantically or platonically, you start to fame being suicidal. You are so scary to me because the fact that you would stoop to that level."
She also mimicked a conversation between ex-partners.
“So I'm calling, you answer. You're like, you try to fix your voice to sound sad, and, like, you're gonna end it. You're like, what's up? Oh, hey, sorry, it's probably loud. I'm out at this party, but I was just seeing if you had done it yet.”
The video caught the attention of a fan, who accused Colson of taking sides.
“What a weird post to make with the Halle situation. Feels like you’re taking the side of an abuser. Sucks,” one fan said.
Colson was quick to respond, saying she was not referring to anyone in particular.
"Girl, I don't even know what's going on with that, so you just projected that onto me, which is so odd," she replied.

Fans criticize Sydney Colson for controversial video
Fans flooded the comment section of Colson’s video.
“Now you know good & damn well the timing of this post is crazy lmao,” said one fan.
“Now bestie….i understand what you’re saying but take this down,” another fan said.
Some fans also came to Colson’s defense, saying was not joking in the video and was only explaining a personal experience.
“These comments are confusing me. She is not joking in this video. As much as she does love to joke, people do use this as a manipulation tactic and she clearly explained that that's the scenario,” one fan said.
“This is a weird post SYD!!” a fan commented.
“Love you but some thoughts are internal thoughts,” one fan opined.

Colson will look to put this incident behind her and focus on the Indiana Fever's upcoming game against the Atlanta Dream.
