New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart gave a touching compliment to French Open Champion Coco Gauff, following her first WNBA outing. Gauff was seated courtside at the Liberty-Sky game on Tuesday.
During the postgame conference, a reporter noted that despite the 19-point win, the crowd was at its loudest for Coco Gauff’s appearance. Breanna Stewart replied, saying that it was incredible to see the crowd support her.
“I thought it was incredible for it to get so loud for her. She said it was her first WNBA game. For it to be a Liberty game is really special for us. Hopefully, she'll come back, and she's an inspiration to everyone," Stewart said.
On Saturday, Coco Gauff defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the French Open final and grabbed her second Grand Slam title. Gauff rallied from a set down in what was an admirable win.

On the court, the Liberty will take on Caitlin Clark and Co. at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. The last game between these teams ended in a 90-88 win for New York.
