Caitlin Clark just tied her season-high in the WNBA with 30 points while leading the Indiana Fever to an 85-83 win over the Washington Mystics. Even with the impressive performance, fans are polarized with the former Iowa Hawkeye's numbers with some feeling that her achievements are very much bloated.
As the numbers and highlights of Caitlin Clark against the Mystics hit the internet, fans are chirping about her performance including basketball analyst Jemele Hill. In her recent post, she praised Clark's progress that she is on the right path to what is expected from her.
"Caitlin dropped 30 and had 7 3’s. Again, the coddling was always unnecessary. She’s been on the right track. #wnba," post Hill.
A chunk of the basketball community didn't like the word 'coddle' that was used by Hill in her post to the extent that one fan felt that race had a part in her choice of words.
"Who exactly said she needed coddling? Oh yeah... No one," said Jack Buckingham.
"Coddling? LOL," @BigPlayMom replies.
"The fact you say she was coddled is beyond laughable. Keep up the race baiting though as it's the only thing you seemingly succeed at on X," said Jeff McDonald.
A fan also sees that there is no point in adding extra words to Jemele Hill's comments as it instigates debate on social media and she is just baiting fans.
"Should have just stop at Caitlin dropped 30 and 7 3's. But you just can not do it. take care," rmatthews answers.
"J.H. easily runs the most visited Twitter Bait Shop on the interweb. Clicky, Clicky, Clicky." said D. Beatty.
While Hill's comments are gaining traction on social media, some show how huge of a following Caitlin Clark brought to a Washington Mystics game.
"The worst team in the WNBA quadrupled their attendance when Caitlin Clark came to town tonight," said 2024WarRoom2.
Caitlin Clark was not paying attention to the 2024 NBA Finals
While Caitlin Clark is getting accustomed to playing in the WNBA, the 2024 NBA Finals just got on its way with the Boston Celtics taking Game 1 over the Dallas Mavericks in the TD Garden.
After her game against the Mystics, Clark was asked by the media about the 2024 NBA Finals but she said that she did not give it priority because she was watching college baseball instead.
“I had the women’s college softball World Series on instead… there’s a girl that pitches for Texas who’s a freshman that actually lived a couple streets over from me growing up," said Clark.
The Indiana Fever moved up to a 3-9 record and has won two of their last three games in the 2024 WNBA season. Up next on her calendar is a road game against the Connecticut Sun on June 10.
