Kate Martin warns about scammers using fake social media accounts pretending to be her

Kate Martin has issued a 'fake account alert' to her fans. Having turned pro less than a month ago, the Las Vegas Aces rookie guard has built quite a reputation for herself. The 23-year-old's impressive debut performance has garnered her a significant number of fans. And on Monday, she had some strong words of caution for them.

Martin warned her followers on X (formerly Twitter) about potential social media scammers after discovering a fake Facebook account pretending to represent the rookie.

“If you received any messages or comments from “me” via Facebook, it was not me,” Martin tweeted.

Martin also told fans that she had the account removed but urged them to stay vigilant as this might not be the only one.

The statement explained that Kate Martin does not communicate with fans on Facebook.

“My only forms of social media are Instagram, TikTok & Twitter! Be careful of fake accounts out there! Now have a great day everyone!”

Kate Martin shines in WNBA debut for Aces

The Las Vegas Aces fans got their first look at sought-out rookie acquisition Kate Martin on Saturday. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star got her first WNBA start in the Aces' royal black and grey jersey as they took on the Los Angeles Sparks.

She played a critical 26 minutes for the back-to-back champions as her debut went beyond just scoring. She scored three points, five rebounds and three assists, proving her dedication to making every play count. Whilst it was only a debut game, this type of performance gave everyone a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming games.

She even added a highlight-reel block that energized the crowd and her teammates.

Ultimately, the Aces won the game 89-82, but "Money Martin's" outing saw her face some excellent players such as Dearica Hamby, Kia Nurse and Layshia Clarendon.

Becky Hammon, the Aces head coach, spoke about Martin's relentless effort.

"She just doesn’t make mistakes," Hammon said. "She executed our schemes really well, better than some other players at times. She plays so hard. Her sense of urgency and attention to detail has really been there the whole time. She plays hard and plays smart."

Now it's whether Hammon will throw Martin into the deep against the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday and see how the highly-rated rookie fairs herself against the pace and physicality of the WNBA.
