Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx hosted the New York Liberty on Friday. Collier and Co. entered the game desperate for a win to force a Game 5 in New York. After four quarters of end-to-end action, the Lynx held off their opponents 82-80 to stay alive in the series.

Collier started hot, finishing the first quarter with eight points and three assists. She continued to be the center of New York’s defense but still delivered. The Lynx badly needed everything she could give as the first quarter ended tied at 23 apiece.

The Liberty defense slowed Collier down a bit in the second quarter. She couldn’t score as much as she wanted but remained impactful with her defense and rebounding. Napheesa Collier’s performance helped the hosts take a 46-45 lead after the end of two quarters in Game 4.

Collier scored just two points in the second half via two third-quarter free throws. New York's defense eventually stopped her, but she was willing to play decoy to set up her teammates. Courtney Williams, Kayla McBride, Alanna Smith and Bridget Carleton had some open looks because of the Liberty's attention on Collier.

What was Napheesa Collier's impact against the New York Liberty?

After a sizzling first quarter by Napheesa Collier, the New York Liberty were more determined than ever to slow her down. Collier, on a historic scoring run in the playoffs, took what the defense gave her. The Lynx superstar did not force shots and refused to be frustrated by New York's defensive intensity on her.

Minnesota's cornerstone played decoy and offensive hub without hesitation to lead her team to a hard-fought win. Liberty coach Sandy Brondello wasn't going to allow Collier to beat them, so they kept up the defensive pressure on the versatile forward. She happily provided screens, rolled to the basket to collapse the defense and popped out to open the paint.

Napheesa Collier's biggest impact in Game 4 was on defense. She was a pest in the passing lanes, tallying four steals. The 6-foot-4 forward didn't record a block but she clogged the paint and altered shots at the rim. Minnesota lived to fight another day because of another superb outing from her.
