DiJonai Carrington is in her first season with the Dallas Wings, and it seems like she's having trouble adjusting to her new team. One anonymous WNBA general manager seemingly took a shot at Carrington, with fans in disbelief at a telling stat about the reigning Most Improved Player of the Year.
Action Network's Dano Mataya shared a screenshot of a text from an alleged WNBA GM, who apologized for being wrong about Carrington. The executive attached a link, which was also shared by Mataya, showing the Wings star's net rating when on and off the court.
Carrington has a Net Rating Differential of -27.5, which is among the worst in the league. The Wings are -15.1 when she's on the court and are +12.4 when she's on the bench. Net Rating might be an overrated stat, but it's quite telling that she's not playing up to her potential and hasn't developed chemistry with her new teammates.
WNBA fans were divided by Dano Matayo's post about a general manager being critical of DiJonai Carrington. Some couldn't believe her on/off stats, while others were baffled why Carrington's name was revealed.
Here are the best reactions.
In addition to DiJonai Carrington, players with a terrible Net Rating Differential include Alysha Clark of the Seattle Storm (-24.3), Kennedy Burke of the New York Liberty (-22.7), DeWanna Bonner of the Indiana Fever (-33.2), Julie Vanloo of the Golden State Valkyries (-38.5), Kia Nurse of the Chicago Sky (-28.5) and Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream (-22.6).
DiJonai Carrington opens up about Dallas' horrendous start to the season

After the Dallas Wings dropped to 1-8 last week, DiJonai Carrington went on a live stream with Minnesota Lynx stars Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman. Carrington opened up about the chemistry of the Wings' locker room and how they are dealing with a rough start to the season.
"I think the locker room is one of the most important things when you're building a team," Carrington said. "Even though we’re losing right now, there are no problems in the locker room. So you're still like, 'Alright, we're trying to figure it out'. It’s not like, 'Ugh, I gotta go to work.'"
The Wings are now 1-11, which is the worst record in the WNBA. They are on a seven-game losing streak and will try to snap it on Tuesday against the Golden State Valkyries.
