Seattle Storm vs New York Liberty: Starting lineups, injury reports, depth charts and more

After getting their first win of the season on Sunday, the Seattle Storm will be in the Brooklyn to take on the New York Liberty. The Storm, which held off the Mystics 84-75, will try to inflict last year’s WNBA finalists their first loss of the season. Nneka Ogwumike, who sat in the previous game due to a sore ankle, could be cleared for the showdown with the Liberty.

New York rolled to its third straight win of the season after dispatching Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever 91-80 on Saturday. Breanna Stewart was again the biggest thorn that caused the Fever all sorts of problems. She will be looking to do the same when they host the Storm.

Barclays Center will host the first head-to-head duel between the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty. ESPN will air the game on national TV as it happens while My9 and Fox Local will do the same locally. Basketball fans can also stream the action by subscribing to the NBA League Pass.

Seattle Storm vs New York Liberty: Key matchups

Nneka Ogwumike versus Breanna Stewart will be the matchup to look forward to on Monday’s game between the Seattle Storm and the New York Liberty. Seattle might keep Ogwumike off Stewart, particularly if her ankle continues to bother her. But, anytime they get a chance to go head-to-head, it will be a duel to keep an eye on.

The winner of the Ogwumike-Stewart showdown could have a big say in the winner of the Storm-Liberty bout.

Ezi Magbegor will unquestionably get a chance to take on Stewart whether Ogwumike is around or not. Magbegor will pose a big challenge to New York’s reigning MVP due to her size and mobility.

Sabrina Ionescu against Jewell Loyd or Skylar Diggins-Smith will also be an interesting sub-plot on Monday. The Liberty is such a tough team to beat if Ionescu finds her stroke from behind the art. How Loyd and Diggins-Smith will contain her will be another riveting battle.

Ionescu will also have to do her fair share of chasing when it is Seattle that has the battle on offense. She will have to do her best to keep whichever player she will be tasked to guard from going off. It will be a two-way duel that will make the game more interesting.
