Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson will miss the last regular-season matchup against their 2024 WNBA Finals opponent, the New York Liberty. The leading MVP candidate was ruled out for today's game due to a lower right leg injury.

This came after the Aces didn't report any injuries on Saturday's injury report, but Wilson's late-game injury against the Connecticut Sun appears to be bothering her, with Becky Hammon deciding to sit Wilson out today.

She still made it to Barclays Center, wearing a Dawn Staley t-shirt and a boot on her right leg, confirming that there won't be another A'ja Wilson-Breanna Stewart duel to close out the regular season.

Fans took notice of this and were quick to speculate about the real reason behind the decision to wear this boot and Wilson's status for today's game.

"She knows she has to rest up for Caitlin Clark who is closely winning the 2024 #WNBA MVP race," one fan said.
"Becky said she would rest her guarantee you she'll be playing against Indiana," another fan said.
"she tryna be well rested for this matchup on Wednesday😭😭😭," another fan said.

Others lamented that hours after Angel Reese announced she sustained a season-ending injury, Wilson showed up wearing a boot.

"First Angel now A’ja? ENOUGH 😭😭😫😫," one fan said.

A'ja Wilson, Aces will have a complex end of season

A'ja Wilson has been the heart and soul of the Aces this season, taking her game to new heights and becoming a strong candidate to win both the MVP and DPOY awards once the regular season is done.

Before fans find out if she makes WNBA history, the Aces will face a challenging schedule in the final week of competition. Starting today, they will go against the league-leading New York Liberty (28-6), a tough matchup that looks even harder without Wilson.

Then, on Wednesday, they'll go against one of the hottest teams in the league right now, the Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever. They will face the Fever again on Friday before taking on the Connecticut Sun, the team they faced when Wilson got injured.

The last two games of the season will see them go against another competitive squad in the Seattle Storm, a direct opponent for the fourth seed in the 2024 WNBA playoff. After that, they'll clash with the Dallas Wings to finish the season on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Having A'ja Wilson healthy will be crucial for the Aces if they want to finish the season on a strong note and advance past their first-round playoff opponent.
