Skylar Diggins shouts out $225,000 teammate after her career-high night in win at old stomping ground

On Friday, Seattle Storm star Skylar Diggins acknowledged her teammate Gabby Williams after her career-high night against the Phoenix Mercury. The $225,000 forward dropped a career-high for points in a half at the PHX Arena, as Diggins led the charge on her old stomping ground. The Storm defeated the Arizona franchise by 12 points as they earned their fifth win of the season.

Diggins shouted out to Williams on Instagram after the game as she reposted a clip first shared by the official WNBA account. The snippet featured Williams' heroics as she dropped 18 points in the first half.

"Gabby Williams went off in the 1st half vs. the Phoenix Mercury, setting a career-high for points in a half 🔥," the caption read.

The former Mercury guard re-shared the clip on her story as she reacted to the former Chicago Sky forward's highlight reel.

"Gabby is really fn good at basketball," Smith wrote.

Diggins and Williams accounted for more than half of the Storm's total points, scoring 26 and 21 points, respectively. The latter, who set a career-high for points in the first half, also delivered her best shooting performance to date, hitting a career-best five 3-pointers. The duo's performance earned them a well-fought win as they moved into second place in the Commissioner's Cup standings.

Williams, who joined the Storm in 2022, signed a 1-year $225,000 contract with the Seattle team. The contract seems to have been worth its weight, as she currently averages 15.2 points and 4.0 assists per game.

The Seattle Storm defeated the Phoenix Mercury for the second time this season, as their star guard Skylar Diggins dropped a season-high performance. Vying against her former team in Arizona, Diggins recorded 26 points and 7 assists as she went off in the second half while shooting 50% from the three-point line.

Although she had a slow start to the game, missing her first seven field goal attempts. Diggins made an incredible comeback in the second half, as she recorded 22 points with 12 and 10 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

This win saw the Storm close the gap on the Mercury in the WNBA standings as they sit two places below them in sixth.
