Angel Reese reveals surgery date for injured wrist, offers update on rehabilitation timeline

Angel Reese provided an update about her potential return to WNBA action following her wrist injury. The Chicago Sky rookie forward's season-ending injury came as a dampener as the team looks to book a playoff berth this 224 WNBA season. The Sky will miss her rebounding prowess if they make the postseason as the No. 8 seed.

Reese went on TikTok to offer a timeline of her injury, while also describing the details of it. She explained the injury was a small crack on her bone and while she could have played on, the rookie opted for surgery to combat long-term issues like arthritis and further bone damage.

Angel Reese had an impressive maiden season in the WNBA, living up to the hype with 15 straight double-double games to break the league record. She also set the mark for total rebounds this season passing former star Sylvia Fowles (404). She ended her season with 446 boards, including a record 172 on the offensive end of the floor.

Caitlin Clark reacts to Angel Reese's season-ending injury

Angel Reese's competition, Caitlin Clark was one of the players asked about the former's injury that ruled her out for the rest of her season. The Indiana Fever guard responded by saying it wasn't easy to see anyone go down with an injury, and that it was devastating. While at it, she also had flowers for Reese saying she had a brilliant debut season to start her WNBA career.

"You want to see her finish out this year. Obviously, she’s had a historic year, and she’s done some incredible things. For me, getting to play against her, her motor is up there — if not the best in the league. She just doesn’t stop working.
I thought she had a tremendous year. I thought she came into the league and did what she’s done well her entire career as long as I’ve known her. It’s really devastating. It’s never anything you want to see from a player."

Both Angel Reese and Clark were in the race for Rookie of the Year honors, with the Sky forward averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in 34 games. She was a DD2 metronome and was key in keeping the Chicago Sky's playoff hopes alive. Now, the team will have to do it without their young star as they prepare to go into a more competitive segment of the season.
