Angel Reese’s former teammate Chennedy Carter came under heavy fire on social media Sunday after sharing a cryptic message that left fans puzzled. Carter, who suited up for the Chicago Sky last season, posted the bizarre note on Threads shortly after news broke that Sky point guard Courtney Vandersloot would miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury.
"When the universe gives you signs you pay attention! Carter wrote. 'What goes around always comes back around. When you have ugly in your heart the outcome will always backfire. Just wanna say pay attention to the universe. It’s speaking to us."
Social media erupted the moment Chennedy Carter shared her cryptic message. Netizens wasted no time in slamming the former WNBA point guard, calling her out for the poorly timed post and accusing her of making her stance uncomfortably clear.
"Chennedy Carter is such a shitty human being. No wonder no team in the WNBA wants her ass," a fan said.
"She’ll back track like she usually does when she gets into shit and gaslight everyone. Ridiculous," another fan said.
"Chennedy Carter is nasty ass person! Hope she never gets back in the league she is sick!" a fan commented.
"Feel like She’s talking about the Sky organization who didn’t prioritize her when free agency arrived. So their recent early season shortcomings are karma for its actions towards her Horrific timing considering the Sloot news but I think the message expands beyond Sloot," commented another fan.
"What a sad miserable woman," a fan wrote.
"Remember when Chennedy Carter said "At least I can make layups?" and it was easy to figure out who she meant? Pepperidge Farm remembers," another fan wrote.
Chennedy Carter played extremely well for Chicago Sky
Chennedy Carter made a strong return to the WNBA after a year-long absence when the Chicago Sky brought her on board in 2024. She wasted no time making her presence felt, quickly becoming the team’s most dynamic and dependable offensive weapon.
However, the latter half of the season saw Carter sidelined due to injuries and illness and there appeared to be an underlying tension surrounding her status. Despite leading the Sky in scoring with an impressive 17.5 points per game across 33 appearances, the franchise chose not to extend her a qualifying offer, ultimately making her an unrestricted free agent.
Carter also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting an efficient 48.7% from the field, yet surprisingly, she went unsigned during the offseason. Recently, the talented point guard signed with Adelitas de Chihuahua, continuing her professional basketball journey in Mexico.
