Chicago Sky star Angel Reese straightforwardly confessed her love for playing in New York City, which is close to her hometown in Maryland, before Tuesday's showdown against the defending champs. Reese was born in Randallstown and played for Maryland in college before her transfer to LSU.

Amid Sky's brutal 2-5 start (before Tuesday's 85-66 loss), Reese claimed the Barclays was her favorite arena to play in.

"I love New York. It’s probably my favorite city to play in. This arena is legendary. It feels like bright lights—I just love being here. This environment is great. I really enjoy being here."

With Chicago struggling and unlikely to make the playoffs for the second consecutive year since drafting Reese, the sophomore forward's comments sparked massive speculation among fans. Many felt Reese was looking for a way out of the Sky, hinting that she wouldn't mind a move to the Big Apple if there's an opportunity.

Angel Reese's season-high effort in vain as Sky lose to Liberty

Angel Reese made the most of playing in her favorite city on Tuesday against the Liberty. She broke out of her slump, dropping 17 points on 61.5% shooting. However, the Sky lost the contest 85-66, losing their sixth game of the season, dropping to 2-6.

Reese benefited from reigning finals MVP Jonquel Jones' absence, but the rest of her teammates couldn't capitalize. Ariel Atkins was the only player scoring in double digits, tallying 11 points, while the others flopped.

With Courtney Vandersloot going down with a season-ending injury, the Sky's halfcourt struggles worsened. They committed 22 turnovers while recording only 18 assists. Chicago shot 6 of 27 from 3.

Angel Reese's season-best performance was the team's only highlight. Chicago will hope it can bounce back and end its losing streak. The Sky's next game will be on Friday against Atlanta Dream, who are 6-3 on the year. Reese and Cardoso can match their physicality, so it's one of the better matchups for Chicago.
