This does not include players who are unrestricted free agents and only includes players currently under contract or players whose teams still own the rights. The Valkyries will be able select one player from every team to construct their roster. This, of course, means that players like Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Kelsey Plum, Sabrina Ionescu, and Arike Ogunbowale (to name just a few) will all be protected and unavailable to the Valkyries. The team broke things down in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter:In addition to being able to draft one player from each team, the Valkyries will be able to participate in free agency when it begins on January 21. There, the team will be able to negotiate with players like DeWanna Bonner, Alyssa Thomas, and Brionna Jones to name just a few.On top of that, they also have the fifth pick of the first, second, and third rounds heading into April's WNBA Draft.Between the expansion draft, free agency, and the WNBA Draft, Golden State will be able to fully assemble its team ahead of the tip-off of the 2025 season on May 16.
