The Chicago Sky has reportedly decided to hire Tyler Marsh as their new head coach heading into the 2024-25 WNBA season. Agen Andy Miller broke from Klutch Sports broke the news to ESPN. The Chicago Sky had a rough run in the league last season.
The Windy City team occupied the seventh seed in the WNBA standings for most of the season. However, the Sky fell apart after their star rookie Angel Reese suffered a wrist injury. They lost their final five games of the season, losing their seventh-seed spot and a chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Due to the undesired result, the franchise fired their head coach Teresa Weatherspoon on Sept. 26. Tyler Marsh has been hired to fill in Weatherspoon's shoes and transform Sky into the women's basketball powerhouse they once were.
Marsh served as an assistant coach for the Las Vegas Aces under Becky Hammon from 2022. He helped the Aces win back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023 and evolved them into championship contenders alongside Hammon.
Apart from his experience in the WNBA, Marsh also has accumulated coaching experience from the NBA. He was an assistant/player development coach at the Indiana Pacers and a video coordinator and player development coach for the Toronto Raptors. Marsh also spent three seasons in the G-League as an assistant.
Marsh is the youngest coach in the league, and the news of his hiring came just after the Indiana Fever announced the hiring of Stephanie White as their new coach.

The Chicago Sky star had a hilarious interaction with Aces player Sydney Colson. The Aces player reposted Reese's post and jokingly asked the Chi-Barbie to have respect as they are grieving the departure of their assistant coach. However, Reese readily responded to Colson in another thread.
"Sorry but your time is UP. It’s our turn! I’ll send you some tissue tho sister girl unless you want to come join this side too," she tweeted.
Marsh's arrival should greatly help Reese and Kamilla Cardoso develop and take their careers to the next step.
