Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Dallas Wings. According to ESPN, Wilson won't play due to the WNBA's concussion protocol. The reigning MVP sustained the concussion on Wednesday, following the 97-89 loss to the LA Sparks.

The Sparks' Dearica Hamby drove to the basket and accidentally hit Wilson's face. The star forward opted to leave the game with 1:17 left in the third quarter and did not return. Becky Hammon gave an update following the game.

According to the Las Vegas coach, Wilson bled from her head and was required to see a doctor for further evaluation. After the loss, the Aces have a 4-4 record to start the 2025 WNBA season.

The absence of Wilson is a significant blow to the team. She is averaging 20.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists on 43.3% shooting. Not only is she the main player on offense, but the three-time MVP is also a huge factor on the defensive end.

Wilson is averaging 2.0 steals and 2.6 blocks in eight games. Without her, the Aces need other role players to step up.

Las Vegas hasn't released a statement about how long Wilson will be out. Dealing with concussions is a serious matter in the WNBA, and her health is a priority for the organization.

The six-time All-Star will miss out on playing against this year's No. 1 pick, Paige Bueckers. It was supposed to be their first matchup, which is one of the highlights of the season.

Their next matchup will be on July 16, and hopefully, Wilson would be back in action.

Fans react to A'ja Wilson entering the concussion protocol
